Software License

Free to use, source-available, with a paid option to hide the badge.

This is the license under which our EmDash plugins are distributed. Each plugin repository contains a copy of the license that applies to it. The example below refers to Maintenance Mode & Coming Soon for EmDash; other plugins use the same terms with their own name.

1. Definitions

  • "Software": the source code, compiled bundles and documentation of the plugin, including updates.
  • "Badge": the "Powered by" notice the Software shows on the maintenance page.
  • "License Key": a key purchased from the Licensor's official store. Each plan allows a set number of activated sites and is either annual (valid while the subscription is active) or lifetime (no expiry).
  • "Activated Site": a website on which a License Key has been activated through the Software.

2. Free use

You may, free of charge:

  1. install and use the Software on any number of websites, including public production websites, as long as the Badge is shown;
  2. read, audit and modify the Software for your own use, including on behalf of a client, as long as the Badge and the license check keep working.

3. Pro use (with a License Key)

With a valid License Key you may also hide the Badge on Activated Sites, up to the number of sites your plan allows. If the License Key expires, is cancelled or is revoked, the Badge is shown again; every other feature keeps working.

4. What you may not do

  1. Hide, remove or alter the Badge on a website that is not an Activated Site with a valid License Key, by any means, including code changes or CSS.
  2. Remove, disable or work around the license check, or help others to do so.
  3. Share, publish or sell License Keys, or use one License Key beyond the number of sites its plan allows.
  4. Redistribute, sublicense, sell or publish the Software or modified versions of it, alone or as part of another product, plugin, theme or template. Installing the Software from its official sources on websites you build or manage is not redistribution.
  5. Remove copyright notices or this license.

5. Updates, support and revocation

  • Annual plans include updates and support while the subscription is active.
  • Lifetime plans include updates to the 1.x versions of the Software and support for as long as the Licensor offers it.
  • The Licensor may revoke a License Key that has been shared or used against this license. Refunds follow the Refund Policy.

6. No warranty

The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Licensor is not liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Software. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the License Key in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Termination

This license ends automatically if you breach it. Sections 6 and 7 survive termination.

9. Governing law

This license is governed by Italian law. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence still apply.
